In light of recent developments, there has been significant concern regarding the disappearance of the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information, and Personal Data Protection (“INAI”) in Mexico. This sudden change has led to a pronounced lack of clarity about the role and enforcement appetite of the new authority in the country. The absence of a clear regulatory body or one with no past experience on the matter raises critical questions about the enforcement of data privacy and cybersecurity laws, as well as the protection of individuals' personal information.
