September 2023: Norway and Germany have now agreed to set up a joint Task Force to follow up the results of an ongoing joint feasibility study, which is looking into possibilities to transport hydrogen and CO2 between Germany and Norway.

March 2023: An annex to the Norwegian-British MoU on carbon capture and storage cooperation was signed by Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anniken Huitfeldt and Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Grans Shapps, in London on 1 March 2023. The annex confirms the continued cooperation between the two countries to regularly exchange knowledge and experience related to the use of low-carbon hydrogen on production, transport and storage as well as on developing standards and certification.

January 2023: German Federal Minister Robert Habeck travelled to Norway’s capital to hold political talks with Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gare Store and other government officials, which will focus on the establishment of climate-neutral energy supply, and in particular the production and supply of hydrogen and the decarbonization of energy-intensive industrial sectors. To this end, Germany and Norway intend to intensify and expand their cooperation on energy. A Joint Statement and a Joint Declaration were signed in Oslo at the beginning of the visit.

March 2020: The government is pursuing an ambitious climate and environmental policy, with measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This hydrogen strategy contributes to the development of new low-emission technologies and solutions.
